David Ottaviano’s Biography

David Ottaviano comes to Bernalillo County Open Space with a wealth of educator and cultural and historical resource interpretation experience. For the last 9 years, David has been an Interpretive Park Ranger, with the National Park Service (NPS). He started his NPS career at historic site museums in New York City, where he is from originally. David has spent the past five years at Petroglyph National Monument in Albuquerque. David is a former Peace Corps Volunteer and middle school history teacher. He has always been deeply involved in both developing and leading youth education and public programming that brings out the unique cultural and natural resources of an area or site. He is enthusiastic about learning the rich history of the Gutiérez Hubbell House and property, as well as becoming familiar with the Bernalillo County Open Space system. David holds a BA in history and MA in political sociology. He enjoys cooking, travel, hiking and camping and loves spending time with his wife and 8-year old daughter.
